DEFINITION OF BUSINESS COMMUNICATION 

Business communication is communication that promotes a product, service, marketing, or organization; relays information within a business; or function as an official statement form a company.
Business communication (or simply “communications”, in a business context) encompasses such topics as marketing, brand management, customer relations, consumer behavior, advertising, public relations, corporate communication, community engagement, reputationn management, interpersonal communication, employee engagement, and event management.
It is closely related to the fields of professional communication and technical communication.

THERE ARE THREE ASPECTS OF BUSINESS COMMUNICATION       :
-       -   Face to face skills
-       -   Formal and informal communication
-       -   Obtacles to effective communication at work

FACE TO FACE COMMUNICATION
Communication between two or more people by direct contact
The Advantages of face to face communication   :
-    -   Helps people to express feelings, ideas much better
-     -  Can get response immediately without misunderstanding

Face to face communication including :

-             -Pauses
-             -Stress, etc

Non verbal     :
 A . Body-language

OBSTACLES TO EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION AT WORK
There are obstacle to effective communication at work, such as :
-        -    Perceptual barrier
    - Difference opinion between two people
-       -    Ego involvement
-       -   Physical barrier
-       -  Competition for power, status, and rewards
-       -   Lack of communication skills
-       -  Lack of trust between management and employees
-       - Closed communication climate

FORMAL COMMUNICATION
Communication efforts that are “dressed up” to fit costumary rules and ceremony.

In work place, with people whom we do not know we communicate formally.

There are three types of formal communication :
-       - Downward (upper management down to subordinate)
-       - Upward (employees to upper level management)
-       - Horizontal (across peers within the group or organization)

INFORMAL COMMUNICATION
-       - Form of communication shariing typically used in personal conversation
-   - With our family members, friends and ones to whom we are close, we generally communicate formally
    -  Saying “hey” instead of hello

John      :  Good morning, Ann!
                  How are you doing ?
Ann        : Good morning, John.
                  I’m not feeling good today.
John      : What’s going on ?
Ann        : It’s about my company.
John      : What’s exactly happen Ann ? Just tell me .
Ann     : My company almost bankrupt. The income is not reach the target and the outcome, it always increase in every month.
John      : Then what’s your planning ?
Ann        : I’ve already taken an annual meeting last Monday, and we discussed about that. We already done the overtime for all my employees, but still. It didn’t change much.
John      : oooohh that’s too bad. Then what about another opinion from that meeting ?
Ann        : Some of us agree to fire some our employees, but I have no idea for that.
John      : Maybe that’s the best thing for us. You can think more. If you fire some employees, your company will continue the work. But if not, maybe this condition will not change.
Ann        : yes, I know it john. At lease we can reach break even point first. After the company going better, I can recruit more employees to balance our work.
John      : yeah , just do what you should do. Don’t let your company bankrupt, Ann . I know you can handle this.
Ann       : thanks John. I will announce for meeting on next Monday. It’s better soon to solve this problem. It’s really big problem I think.

All the  employees  doing  overtime  to reach the target of production.

All the head of sub in office should submit their annual report in the beginning of month.
      
      4.       Annual meeting  =  rapat tahunan
The general manager announce the annual meeting will be held on Monday.

    5.    Bankrupt =ketidakmampuan suatu perusahaan yang dinyatakan secara legal kepada individu atau organisasi  atas ketidaksanggupannya membayar kepada kreditur.
The company fired some employees because of bankrupt.
      
      6.    Outsourcing or contracting out = alih daya
The outsourcing employee cannot continue their jobs because of their work was not good.
      
      7.    Balance sheet  = neraca
It is important to analyze a balance sheet, but employers want people who can prepare a set of accounts too.
      
      8.      Marketing expense = biaya pemasaran
Last month the marketing expanse of Electro Company increase until 45%.
      
      9.      Auditor = pemeriksa keuangan
The auditor check all the income and the outcome of the company every month.
       
      10.  Asset approach =  pendekatan aktiva

The asset approach views the business as a set of assets and liabilities that are used as building blocks to construct the picture of business value.
